Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist as well as a businessperson. She is the co-founder and director of Thrive Global, as well as the writer of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is an author, philanthropist TV personality, and the owner of the online, independent newspaper The Huffington Post. Originally from Greece she moved to England when she was just 16 and then graduated at the age of 16 from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. When she was 21, she was president of the renowned debating society The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign student to hold this title. Then she became a conservative syndicated writer following her graduation as well. When The Huffington Post launched a year following, she launched an online platform to voice opinions that provided criticisms of political situations. Arianna was able to attract many prominent contributors to share their views on culture and politics. Arianna was famous after she was elected as an independent in a recall vote in California for the seat of then-Governor Davis. Additionally she was also the director of the Detroit Project for efficient vehicles that use less fuel. Forbes listed her as the 12th most influential female within the field of media in 2009 and Guardian has also placed her on the Top 100 Media List the same year. The year 2011 saw AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post and made the president of that media company, which also included a number of existing AOL brands too, like Engadget AOL music Style list as well as Patch Media. She was born to a journalist and management consultant Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. Though she shared a kinship connection to both her parents but it was their connection which shaped her. As early as her childhood, she displayed the qualities of a leader for which she has gained a reputation. In her 16th year she began her study within England in the United Kingdom at Girton College Cambridge. In her time at college, she joined the debating Society Cambridge Union where she became the third foreign, and first female president. In 1972she received her master's degree in Economics. Following her graduation, she was employed as a columnist critic, and an anchor on a TV show. Also, she appeared together with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started writing books using his assistance in editing.
