Despacito was released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi in 2017 and went on to become the top-streamed track within 6 months. The song was a mix of reggaeton and pop, which was not just a new ear to reggaeton but also more interest in Latin music. The Billboard Top 100 featured two songs that were Spanish most of the time, and four others in the year 2016. In 2017, during the peak of popularity for Despacito the track was among 19 that mostly in Spanish appeared on the Billboard Top 100. In 2020, there will be 41 tracks from this category. Justin Bieber's bilingual remake of Despacito was released in 2017. Soon after, popular artists began working with reggaeton performers. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny for MIA (2018), and Madonna collaborated with Maluma for Medellin. By 2020 a few reggaeton musicians were unhappy with its inclination towards mainstream. But a fresh generation, specifically Rauw Alejandro, aimed to continue the evolution of reggaeton. The genre often incorporated elements of electronic dance and other genres.
