Lee Roy Selmon blends the benefits of a football scholarship within his family with volunteering in the community. Selmon is the youngest of children from Lucious Selmon and Jessie Semon. They took care of him at their farm in Eufala. Second football he was one of three brothers who were players for Oklahoma. The three brothers were All-Americans. In 1973, Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the US. He won two championships and the score was 32-1-1 over his three seasons as Oklahoma's main man. As an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given the opportunity to receive a scholarship in his third year in the year 1975. Selmon earned a degree as an educator. Lee Roy was involved in volunteer work ten hour per week during his time at college. In Tampa, he played for the Buccaneers for nine seasons before becoming an all-pro. Also, he began his career in the field of business. In 1988, he was an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There's no surprise that Lee Roy was honored when the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated him as one of the top 10 young men across the nation. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch taller and weighing the hefty 256 pounds at college when he was an athlete, was captain of his team during the season of 1975. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993, as associate director of sports. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame was named for the player as a member in the year the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 gave its Distinguished American Award to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. The presentation was made by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
